They present an enormous health, social and economic opportunity, and the technologies also pose real challenges about what is ethically acceptable and safe. This will be one of the most globally disruptive set of technologies of the next decade.

Australia and India have real capabilities and needs in the deployment and regulation of modern biotechnologies. Both have world leading biotech companies, strong research capabilities and huge untapped potential to use feedstocks for resilient manufacturing. It is potentially the critical and emerging technology of most collaborative promise for both countries.
